Pickups Appeal: Help Save Lives in Frontline Regions

Every day in the Kherson region and other frontline areas of Ukraine, firefighters face unimaginable challenges. Roads destroyed by war, relentless mud in autumn and spring, and constant drone strikes make it nearly impossible for large fire engines to operate effectively. Yet, the need to save lives and protect communities grows more urgent with each passing day.

This is why we are launching the Pickups Appeal - a mission to provide specially adapted pickups equipped with water tanks, pumps, and essential firefighting tools.

Pickups can navigate destroyed roads and muddy terrain where traditional fire engines can’t. Their compact size means faster response times to emergencies. Unlike fire engines, pickups are smaller targets for drones, which increases their chances of reaching the scene safely.

But even pickups face risks. A short time ago, we received a heartbreaking photo of a destroyed pickup used to deliver drinking water and food to citizens in a besieged area. These people refuse to or are unable to leave their homes, clinging to what little they have left. The pickup - once a symbol of hope was struck by enemy fire. This is the reality the firefighters live with daily.

We have been told of innocent civilians waiting at a bus stop and others working in their backyards, targeted by drones. In such circumstances, pickups could mean the difference between life and death, offering rapid response and vital support.

This isn’t just about vehicles - it’s about providing the firefighters with the tools they need to save lives. Every pickup we will send is a step toward protecting more families, increasing the ability for the brave firefighters to respond into a dangerous situation to give communities on and near the frontlines a chance of survival.

But we need your help.

SERA will adapt the vehicle for firefighting purposes but we need your old pick up or 4x4 vehicle. Or maybe you know someone who has an old vehicle that they may be deciding to get rid of? The firefighters and innocent civilians of Ukraine really need this vehicle.

Together, we can design and deliver vehicles that will serve where they are needed most. There hasn’t been a single month when a region hasn’t reached out asking for our help with pickups. That’s how critical they are.
