Urgent UKRAINE Appeal: Release of Lifesaving Fire Engines Impounded at Polish Border
As we enter our 4th day of the fire engines impounded at the border, we begin to see that we are not alone in this.
We have witnessed another emergency service vehicle heading for life saving work in Ukraine suffer the same fate.
We have heard of 4No ambulances abandoned and taken to a pound as a result of the same issues and the charity unable to make the payments.
This appears to be a systematic and deliberate decision by the Ministry of Finance in Poland to block or delay critical humanitarian aid from reaching Ukraine where it is urgently needed.
This does not reflect the generous spirit of the citizens of Poland which we have witnessed and been subject to over the last few days.
We continue the fight to release these fire engines to where they are desperately needed.
If I can share an example of Serhii who drove 1000kms in his car with his wife from the Sumy region. He desperately needed 4no sets of firefighter PPE for firefighters in his area. He left with his car full with more than he asked for which he was so thankful for.
About a small community who drove 900km to receive a generator to give them some power during winter and a water pump so they could draw drinking water from a well due to the mains supply being affected by Russian targeting of public infrastructure.
Ukraine needs our help, needs the fire engines and need them now.
